July 1st is #nationalpostalworkerday. One of the oldest institutions of our nation, the United States Postal Service was founded on July 16, 1775 and the first Postmaster General was no on else than Benjamin Franklin, one of the key authors of our great Constitution and Founding Father.

Ever since then, postal workers have played a central role in the country by consistently and delivering mail and packages through scorching heat and freezing cold, torrential rain and blinding snow. The USPS delivers 23.5 millions of packages and 318 millions of letters daily thanks to the efforts of its over 600,000 employees, many of whom are assigned to mail handling or city/rural carrier roles, making it one of the largest employees in the United States.

National Postal Worker Day was established in 1997 by Seattle area postal workers. Make sure to celebrate by thanking your local postal workers for their efforts!
