In a disappointing development, Mayor Allegra Nixon's promise to reject victory by default and ask for new elections should she be appointed mayor of Los Santos by the Municipal Election Commission was short lived, and she promptly accepted their mandate to assume the mayoralty less than 48 hours after swearing she would not do so.
If this sets the tone for the rest of her term, and it does, the people of Los Santos are in for quite a troublesome time. One can only wonder how will she carry out the many promises of her manifesto if she can't keep her word for even a full two days.
Many unfortunately prefer the comfort of an assured seat to the risks that integrity brings with it. Politicians like Eugene Park and Patrick Callahan, whose murders are still unsolved despite promises of swift justice, showed us that integrity comes at a great cost, a cost that not everyone is willing to pay.
Once again, it's not the citizens who pick the winner. And while Mrs. Nixon might be the winner, the true loser of this election is not Kenneth Muldoon, but the will of the people of Los Santos.

July 1st is #nationalpostalworkerday. One of the oldest institutions of our nation, the United States Postal Service was founded on July 16, 1775 and the first Postmaster General was no on else than Benjamin Franklin, one of the key authors of our great Constitution and Founding Father.
Ever since then, postal workers have played a central role in the country by consistently and delivering mail and packages through scorching heat and freezing cold, torrential rain and blinding snow. The USPS delivers 23.5 millions of packages and 318 millions of letters daily thanks to the efforts of its over 600,000 employees, many of whom are assigned to mail handling or city/rural carrier roles, making it one of the largest employees in the United States.
National Postal Worker Day was established in 1997 by Seattle area postal workers. Make sure to celebrate by thanking your local postal workers for their efforts!

One of the founding principles of our great nation is that no one is guilty as charged. While the accusations against Kenneth Muldoon are serious and certainly call into question his ethics, they will actually need to be proven in a court of law before the findings of the Los Santos Elections Commission are taken as truths.
Many claims of wrongdoing by political figures in the State's recent past have revealed themselves to be built on hearsay and circumstantial evidence, and were promptly dismantled when challenged in court: the case of Jep Appelo, who was unnecessarily hounded by agents of the local Federal Bureau of Investigation with an agenda, spending several weeks in a federal penitentiary before being declared innocent should serve as a cautionary tale for those seeking to use Mr. Muldoon's actions as a springboard for their own political careers.
This is more true when, time and again, requests to release all the evidence leading to this unfortunate outcome to the public are only met with vague promises of transparency that are seldom followed upon.
Furthermore, the recent events call into question the integrity of the entire electoral cycle and are grounds enough to annul the entire election, lest it shall be tainted by the grave accusations of voter fraud that have, unfortunately, been lobbed at both candidates. The only way forward is restart from scratch.
Should that not happen, the people who claim to have lost faith in the legitimacy of out State Government would be proven right: the remaining Mayoral candidate would forever be tainted by the suggestion of having been aided by an unelected cabal in her victory, rather than having won the hearts and minds of the people of Los Santos.
This is a call for the Elections Commission to annul the election cycle in its entirety and for Mayor Allegra Nixon to renounce her victory so that fair elections, free of undue influence on both sides, can be hosted.
It might not be what some want, but it certainly is what the State needs.

The suspension of the Los Santos Mayoral Election is very troubling news that shakes the foundations of democracy and casts a dark shadow over the state of politics in San Andreas. It is an unprecedented decision setting a dangerous precedent and effectively throwing our political scene into uncharted waters.
After such an event, it is of the utmost importance that, in order to restore the faith of our constituents in the electoral process, any and all evidence that led to this decision are released to the public as soon as possible, in order to dispel any rumors of wrongdoing, partisanship and corruption by the Electoral Commission.
Should this not happen, each and every election cycle overseen by the Commission will be inevitably tainted by suspicion of the body being used to maintain the status quo rather than enforce clean and fair voting that respects the will of the people.
I urge the Commission and any law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation that led to this point to publish their supporting findings within the shortest time, and for an impartial inquiry into Kenneth Muldoon's alleged activities to proceed at an expedited pace so that truth may be finally ascertained.
Our democracy, our institutions and, most importantly, the citizens of the City of Los Santos require it.
