Mayor Nixon Fulfils First Election Promise: Firearms Licensing Fees Lowered by 30%

Mayor Allegra Nixon has signed City Order 2507-01, reducing all City firearms-licensing fees by thirty percent. The LSPD has confirmed that its systems have been updated and the rate change is now in effect.

“Lowering these fees was a clear promise in my campaign and I am proud to deliver it within my first week,” Mayor Nixon said. “Responsible residents should not be priced out of compliance. By lowering costs, we strengthen public safety because more owners will license their weapons properly.”

One Week Later: An Update from Mayor-Elect Nixon

Mayor-Elect Allegra Nixon comments on her first week in office, announces her cabinet, and discusses key priorities:

“I have had a very busy week of digesting information on the City Government’s current state of affairs, budgets, projects and more. I have also spent time meeting with department heads and managers to understand challenges being faced at the moment. Although it has been enlightening, it has also been somewhat worrying.

"We do have much to do, perhaps even more so than the public may have realised, due to the prolonged absence of leadership in City Government. Sadly absence at this level does cause a waterfall effect down to every single operation, and we are only just starting the journey towards remedying this.
