One of the founding principles of our great nation is that no one is guilty as charged. While the accusations against Kenneth Muldoon are serious and certainly call into question his ethics, they will actually need to be proven in a court of law before the findings of the Los Santos Elections Commission are taken as truths.

Many claims of wrongdoing by political figures in the State's recent past have revealed themselves to be built on hearsay and circumstantial evidence, and were promptly dismantled when challenged in court: the case of Jep Appelo, who was unnecessarily hounded by agents of the local Federal Bureau of Investigation with an agenda, spending several weeks in a federal penitentiary before being declared innocent should serve as a cautionary tale for those seeking to use Mr. Muldoon's actions as a springboard for their own political careers.

This is more true when, time and again, requests to release all the evidence leading to this unfortunate outcome to the public are only met with vague promises of transparency that are seldom followed upon.

Furthermore, the recent events call into question the integrity of the entire electoral cycle and are grounds enough to annul the entire election, lest it shall be tainted by the grave accusations of voter fraud that have, unfortunately, been lobbed at both candidates. The only way forward is restart from scratch.

Should that not happen, the people who claim to have lost faith in the legitimacy of out State Government would be proven right: the remaining Mayoral candidate would forever be tainted by the suggestion of having been aided by an unelected cabal in her victory, rather than having won the hearts and minds of the people of Los Santos.

This is a call for the Elections Commission to annul the election cycle in its entirety and for Mayor Allegra Nixon to renounce her victory so that fair elections, free of undue influence on both sides, can be hosted.

It might not be what some want, but it certainly is what the State needs.
