The article on Influencer by Laura Romy (https://community.ls-rp.com/fo....rums/topic/26632-inf ) and the statement released by the Los Santos Municipal Election Commission concerning Kenneth Muldoon (https://community.ls-rp.com/fo....rums/topic/26631-off ) are, once again, proof that the City of Los Santos is at the mercy of unelected bureaucrats who are ineffective and predatory, but quick to criticize others for their failures, perceived or otherwise.
The Electoral Commission is composed of three individuals:
- Timothy Knight, a not-otherwise-specified "advisor" who serves in an undisclosed position without clear duties within the City Government;
- Jackson Bennet, the Secretary of State who has drafted and implemented the Municipal Election Code for the City of Los Santos;
- Hosea Halliday, the Los Santos City Manager who has already attempted to illegally seize the Governor's Mansion for use as his private residence despite having no title or reason to do so.
If the allegations concerning Mr. Muldoon's connections to criminal organizations are true (the burden of proof rests on the accuser and all parties are innocent until proven otherwise) and the evidence of such connections is so easily accessible as mentioned by Influencer, these three individuals have already abundantly failed in their duty to conduct due diligence and enforce ethical standards on candidates. Therefore they must not, under any circumstances, take part in the investigation of Mr. Muldoon.
This is furthermore supported by the fact that, by law, the Municipal Election Commission has no authority whatsoever to investigate candidates or campaigns. According to the Municipal Election Code (https://city.lsgov.us/viewtopi....c.php?f=10&t=223 ), the authority for its enforcement falls upon the Los Santos Police Department and the Code Enforcement Bureau, not the Commission itself.
Additionally, releasing a statement based on nothing but flimsy evidence only days away from an election is an irresponsible act that jeopardizes the integrity of the very process the Commission claims to care about, and is reminiscent of the many past attempts to sabotage popular candidates who were nonetheless not liked by the establishment.
The accusations against Mr. Muldoon are concerning and deserve to be treated tactfully and neutrally, especially during a delicate moment like the tail end of an election cycle. That's why only an independent third-party authorized by law can conduct an in-depth, accurate investigation impartially, and that third-party is the Los Santos Police.
Why is the Municipal Election Commission attempting to involve itself into this matter?
